My side saddle riding lessons continued after my last post but I had to find another instructor as my first one was unable to come out to me anymore. It was a bit of a mad panic trying to find another instructor as I had sent off my entry for the Side Saddle Area 12 show which was going to be held on June 13 and only had just over a month to get my skills up to scratch, learn a new dressage test and figure out what the heck I was going to do for my individual show in the equitation class!!
Then on May 9, after practising jumping side saddle for a laugh in the field for about 2 days (LOL!), we did our first ever horse show jumping side saddle! The jumps at the South Kilworth Show were only 1' but Hattie was such a good mare and we got two ribbons. Don't mind my apron, it got twisted somehow while I was jumping.
Unfortunately, Hattie injured her hoof in the trailer coming home from the show by kicking a razor sharp metal plate that had become loose of the wall of the trailer (we later found out that the trailer also had a rotten wood floor!) and spent the rest of the month of May off on rest.
This meant, I was unable to practice for the Side Saddle Association show which was rapidly approaching!!
Part two soon......
Welcome back! Congrads on your ribbons, I do not have the nerve to jump side saddle, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteJumping side saddle is a bit weird, you just can't get as forward as you can in an astride saddle.
